Sources close to UMuvugizi reveals that In one of it’s financed projects , the Swedish International Development Agency signed a three year agreement In September 2013  with International Organization for Migration (IOM) for support to their Diaspora Project in Somalia.

Through this project, skilled Somalis living abroad will be deployed to support government institutions in the sectors of Public Financial Management, Health care and Justice. The one-year contracts are offered to Somalis around the world with the aim to place 20 diaspora experts in Somali institutions every year.

Sweden is one of several donors to the QUESTS-MIDA* project, which is a joint initiative between IOM and the UN Development Programme (UNDP).

The objective is to utilize the knowledge and expertise of the Somali diaspora to build capacity in the country’s institutions – brain gain instead of brain drain.

Sweden’s support to QUESTS-MIDA is part of Sweden’s new five-year result strategy for aid to Somalia. The strategy implies a tripling of the former financial support, in addition to continued humanitarian support.
